How Your Diet Will Prevent Age Pigments

I:0:JAge spots, also called liver spots, are considered by most folks to be something that we are unable to prevent. They are sure to come as we get older. There is next to nothing we can do about it. That is not the absolute truth, though. Thanks to hundreds of thouands of dermatologists and years of research we are in a new time. A time of understanding problems. An age of putting information together to help prevent unpleasant effects.

Thanks to the dedicated dermatologist across the country doing countless studies, we have now learned important keys to preventing liver spots. I am going to discuss how changing what you eat can help you be a much younger looking person for years to come.

Age spots are also known as liver spots or age pigments. Age pigments are nothing more than iron loaded oxidized unsaturated fats. What does this mean to you? It means that by changing what you consume daily or even weekly will likely reduce the effects of this horrible pigment formation. I would like to get right down to the meat of this article and tell you what you should avoid and how you can change your life forever.

How can we change our diet to prevent liver spots? The first step that you need to take is to cut out as much unsaturated fat as possible. Coconut oil, animal fat, and butter are okay. Seed and nut oils, margarine, and vegetable oils are bad. That is the general rule. As for olive oil, try not to heat it as it becomes more likely to be oxidized at that point.

What should folks do after that? Folks would be wise to remove too much iron from what you eat. You may not realize it but multivitamins and most processed foods are overloaded with iron. One way to prevent the absorption of this iron would be to drink coffee during your major meals.

The two tips above are the basic important factors that you should keep in the forefront of your mind. However, there is still more. There are always more advanced ways. Allow me to explain a few briefly. How about your hormones? Keep them balanced. It has been shown through research that increased levels of estrogen lead to a higher formation of darker age spots. There are a few things that cause high hormone levels. Stress, birth control, and protein deficiency are among the most common.

Also, did you know that eating more dark chocolate will lower the amount of iron that you absorb? It is true. Dark chocolate, shellfish, and liver are all copper-rich. Increased copper intake leads to decreased iron intake.

The only other tip that I have, as far as your diet is concerned, is to include a larger amount of antioxidants in your daily diet. Antioxidants have the power to prevent free radicals. Free radicals are one of the most common causes of age pigment formation. You can increase your consumption of antioxidants by eating more fresh fruits and vegetables.
